He also employs tonal percussion like the Argentinean GARRAHAND and a chromatic version on the African Kalimba in his work. Hillmann was the featured drummer on two recent award-winning productions: namely SUBLIM III and ROOMS RESTORED. Both were recipients of the highest German Jazz Award, the ECHO JAZZ PRIZE. Christoph is also a dedicated educator. He is highly-regarded for his personal, positive, intuitive and conceptual approach, very often giving just the right input at the right time to his students. He is a faculty member of the Jazz Department at the University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück, and has given workshops and masterclasses at McGill University (Montreal, Canada), ARTEZ (Arnhem, The Netherlands), and at university Jazz departments in Seoul and Daegu (South Korea) among others. He has composed and developed a variety of educational musicals, as well as workshop programmes encompassing the breadth of jazz, rock, world and classical styles for up to 180 students and performers of all generations.
